Last Artwork of 2008- The Lego Space Fighter

Finally the Lego space fighter is finished! This also is my very last artwork of 2008. Not a bad way to end the year. I've left a picture with myself next to the model for you to get an idea of its size. You can see in my previous post what this is based off of. What I thought was cool was that the entire time I used no reference and somehow was able to pull off a fighter jet like appearance. I still have yet to figure out its name. Legos over the winter break

Usually during my breaks between semesters I have the opportunity to get back into my old and favorite pass-time and medium to work in: building with Legos. Here is work in progress of a spaceship inspired by a model I made when I was in 1st grade 14 years ago and newer drawings of the ship. It is also supposed to be a ship in a sci-fi edge of the universe story based on the book of Revelations. I find it is more enjoyable and easier to create Lego models as well as other art when I have a dynamic story playing out in my mind. This model should be completed in the next week or so- usually doesn't take too long to create one of these. The only reason something like this would take so much time is that a majority of the model is made up as I go. Hopefully you like it! Have a wonderful Christmas Eve and a great Christmas tomorrow. More various Clothed Figure Drawing 2 stuff

Here are some more Clothed Figure 2 drawings from the nearing end of this semester. More done in color as I have found an incredible liking to doing figure drawing in color. It provides an extra challenge as well as it is somehow easier for me to visually think. To Emerson, Pierre, and Angeline: COLORS!!!!!!!

Cross Sections, Alice and Wonderland, and Bears Oh My!

Above and Below: Here is my Illustration 1 final. I can't believe that I am done with homework for the semester! Woot! This is a cross section of a ship I designed that I will eventually do a more detailed design of later with cross sectioning. I had a week to create thumbnails and then 1 week to produce the final- an insanly short time for a cross section (I learned some short cuts). The drawing process only took five hours- painting, maybe ten hours. Not bad time considering I used to be a much slower painter. The final above is in gouache and is 15" x 20". (to large if you ask me for the limit of time). Hope you like it and have enjoyed the works of this semester. Depending I may post up my remaining Clothed Figure Drawing 2 inclass work if it turns out well and time permits. Otherwise, have a wonderful break all of you fellow classmates and a very blessed holiday in honor of our amazing King and His birth!

Clothed Figure 2 drawings throughout the semester

These are some of the drawings I did in class for my Clothed Figure 2 drawing class this semester. Some are definitely better than others, but thought I'd post a mass amount of them for fun. Some of these pictures are terribly yellowed due to my camera, but hopefully I will be in luck as I have a new camera coming soon to replace this one which is somewhat broken in the first place.

Editorial for Illustration 1- in progress

Here is some of the work in progress for my editorial assignment for Illustration 1. I did a rough pencil sketch and painted over it with gouache using references of snowy environments, Denver airport, and plump, delicious turkeys that I was able to devour this Thanksgiving! I still have yet to put the matting on this piece and will post when that is complete. "The New Yorker" print is out of date because I printed off a heading from an older magazine onto a transparency to get a better idea of how the editorial would look in finish- hopefully I can type in today's date if I figure out how to match the New Yorker's type font. Anyway, I spent a good solid and strait 7 hours working on this piece (faster than usual, but still exhausting) and am due for some sleep now. I'll be posting soon the final with a better photo as well.
