20,000 Leagues Under the Sea of busy, busy Illustration Work

Here is the final with text included painted in gouache. 8.5"x11"
Here is another Illustration 1 project. We had to use a myth, fable, or popular novel. I chose to do 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne and used a small excerpt from it to illustrate. There were many steps in creating this final, but above is a refined, full scale value study I did to ensure a better result for the final. To get to this point includes lots of reference, thumbnails, value studies, and color roughs before approaching the final. Hope you enjoy!

sorry that the color is off on this- my camera has a terrible habit- especially since it is at the end of its life- of producing an image with excess red or yellow. I may eventually get the chance to fix this image on the post.- Stevenwhoward
